Wallin said she plans to bring the message that urban Canadians should look to their roots for small town Canadian values. She said those roots can be forgotten in the 'big city.'
Wallin will be speaker for the General Excellence portion of the Better Newspapers Competition on July 19 at CCNA's 82nd National Convention in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
In 1995, she established her own independent production company, producing and hosting award winning programs such as Pamela Wallin, Pamela Wallin Company, Heroes and Maclean's TV.
"I'll be in Wadena, definitely," Wallin laughed. "I'm going home.

from smaller communities that seem to somehow get forgotten in the city or at least are much more difficult to make happen," she said.
For Wallin, going to the convention will be like going home. She hails from the small town of Wadena, Saskatchewan.
Wallin also produced and hosted CTV's weekly political forum Question Period, and regularly anchored the weekend edition of CTV National News.
"I feel very strongly about rural Canada and the small communities of our country being the place where they still get it right," said Wallin. "I'm just in the midst of writing a book and one of the things I am writing about is, 'Are we our brothers' Omega Watches De Ville keepers?'
Although Wallin currently lives in Toronto, where she hosts and produces Pamela Wallin's Talk TV for the CTV Group, she still subscribes to her hometown newspaper, the Wadena News.
"My family is all still there, so it is still very much home for me," she said.
Wallin said she plans to bring the message that 'standards are standards' to the Better Newspapers Competition. "The standards of excellence are important for community newspapers are the same as they are anywhere," she said. "We are talking about matters that touch people's lives. The state of the roads or the state of the hospitals those things are important in a community. We need national newspapers and national news organizations and all of that for the bigger picture but I do think we need that much more up close and personal reflection. They are complimentary worlds it's important that we have standards.
"It's hard to have that sentiment in the big city where you may not even know your neighbours. I learned that when I was young, seeing the importance of taking care, knowing your neighbour, knowing the person next door, lending a helping hand, and all of that. Urban Canada still needs to learn some of those lessons Omega Speedmaster Watch Outlet US
In the fall of 1994, her hometown renamed a main street Pamela Wallin Drive in honour of the journalist.

The career of the Saskatchewan born journalist has spanned more than twenty five years and several continents. With an honours degree from the University of Regina in psychology and political science, she was the first woman in Canadian network television history to be appointed Ottawa Bureau Chief when CTV named her to that position. She conducted the annual year end interviews with the Prime Minister and, over the years, has interviewed Prime Ministers Trudeau, Mulroney, Chretien, Turner, Clark and Campbell, and has covered everything from politics to wars to economic summits in world capitals.
"It's where news matters in the sense of what happens to these big things we cover as national stories," said Wallin. "What happens they get to the front lines the place where it really has an impact? I think they play a crucial role sort of reflecting that back, but also translating what the 'national stories' mean in people terms."
"It keeps me in touch that's where my family is," said Wallin. "The Wadena News tells me stories of my community. I don't look to the Wadena News for information on the peace deal in the Middle East. I want to know about the lives of the people that I care about and how the issues in that community are impacting on them."
Community newspapers play a crucial role in reflecting and translating national stories to the local level, says respected broadcaster and journalist Pamela Wallin.
In 1998, she published her memoir, Since You Asked. Most recently, she hosted the special Canadian Edition of Omega Watches For Men 2017
