McMullen specializes in deep tissue techniques and active isolated stretching. She defines deep tissue massage as "working the top layers to find the bottom layers beneath."

McMullen has several independent contractors who offer other disciplines at SarcoMere, among them Mary Booth, a registered yoga teacher who works with clients chary about going to a gym to take yoga classes and otherwise get fit.

"These are normal guys, for the most part," she said. "They're nice, they're normal and they're very down to earth. Egos aren't paramount in hockey, the way they are in other sports."
Company offers a therapeutic buffet
On the training side, McMullen specializes in designing workouts to confuse her clients' muscles. She always varies the routine, using thera bands, medicine balls, cardio equipment, hand weights, hills outside and other props to help her clients get fit.
Many people suffer physically because their cores are so weak. That is often where McMullen focuses her efforts.
Despite her willowy frame, she has the strong hands, shoulders and arms of someone long practicing at her craft.
During Flyers training camp and the regular hockey season, McMullen often travels with the team and is a constant presence during the playoffs. She works closely with Flyers trainer Jimmy McCrossin, who lets her know about players' injuries and where they need some attention. Most massages are either pre or post game.
